I'm back from a small vacation from blogging—it's been like walking in a desert, once you stop to have a rest it's hard to start up again. don't lay down and die, keep on blogging.

Titles

I know I'm suppose to make the titles interesting but as I discover new facts or need to discuss the topic further after thinking about it more—I like to keep the thread going. Hence "part".

No post today

I'm not posting today, I'm going out in the sun to experience life and get some vitamin D.

rethink

After the tutors comments on the Discussion board about relating the exercisers to the concepts, it may appear that all my rants have been a waste of time.

I will need to refocus and rethink why I'm attempting to do a BA in Internet Communication.

For the time being I will put aside my prejudice and use the time as a discovery process.

I still think there's too much crap on the web so you will have to forgive me if I regress into a rant.

Being very green to blogging I was unaware that I could get spam posted as a comment. I now know differently. See March 5 entry on Plagiarism comments. The audacity of some people astound me!

Reflections on Week 1

Yes, I was feeling lost!
I know that sounds melodramatic but "phew", I'm glad the first week is over. My main problem was, and I think will be throughout my studies, is the isolation from the lecturer/tutor and other students. It's a bit ironic I suppose studying BA in Internet Communications and have my frustrations run riot due to the lack knowledge in the area even though I've been using the internet for about 12 years. I need to take note of the wise words from some of the tips I've been reading on my fellow student blogs, and I quote "Don't Panic", which I think originally came from Jack Jones the butcher in Dad's Army.

So want did I take from the first week?

Point 1.
familiarity breeds contempt—using the internet to gain information on issues that I have experience and background in, such as the UK Premier League Soccer (Chelsea football club) is simple. However, understanding and following instructions from a new topic can be problematic, especially under stress from returning to study after a long break.

I think I need to add another tip to the "Five top tips for new bloggers".

Tip 6. Assume people who are reading your blog know nothing or very little about the subject, so keep your information clear and simple to understand.

Point 2.
If you don't understand, ask the question—I wasted a lot of time just trying to find my way around the uni site, taking in new information and trying assimilate this all at once can be very taxing. I find with the wealth of information on tap over the web, and the fact that my life at times can be traveling too fast, so I have tended to become very selective on what I read carefully and what I only browse through.

So the next tip will be:

I might as well say here and now that all images on this blog were created by me—either by using the camera or from screen shots from my computer, and are for my use only and on one else. So no taking my images. (please)

First thoughts

I must say my first thoughts on why people blog were to share their experiences of life through mass communication to give themselves a large ego and a feeling of self importance. This online identity was to possibly make up for their lack of personal self esteem which may be repaired by the number of followers they gained.
I also thought that people who followed blogs either had too much time on their hands and need fill up their day or were trying to gain life experiences through a computer screen instead of just getting out and doing it for themselves.
I hope this blog of NET11 for my BA studies in Internet Communications will educate me otherwise, it appears that I have a very dim view on some aspects of blogging.
I will admit to subscribing to some educational blog sites such as This Week in Photography and other photographic blogs, but I'm yet to be convinced of the value for personal blogs.
It will be interesting to see if my views change!
